Overview

Eric R. Watson focuses his practice on defending healthcare professionals and organizations in complex medical-malpractice claims, as well as other professional negligence, personal injury, premises liability claims.

Prior to joining Sullivan, Ward, Patton, Gleeson & Felty, P.C., Eric practiced at prominent Metro-Detroit firms specializing in complex medical malpractice defense and birth trauma litigation. He has also represented healthcare professionals in national-level litigation and has served as second chair at jury trial.

He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law in May 2019, with an added Certificate of Concentration in Health Law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Michigan State University.

During his time at the University of Toledo College of Law, Eric competed in the Ohio Attorney General’s Public Service Mock Trial Competition and was a Student Tax Attorney at Toledo Law’s Tax Controversy Clinic, where he provided assistance to taxpayers in handling disputes and negotiating with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in contested matters, such as audits, appeals, and collections.

Eric was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 2019 and is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan Lawyers & Judges Assistance Committee. Prior to joining the State Bar of Michigan, Eric worked in Patient Safety, Risk Management, and Healthcare Compliance at one of the largest healthcare systems in Michigan.

He has also been consistently recognized as a Rising Star in Michigan Super Lawyers since 2023.
