Sheri has significant experience in alternative dispute resolution. A skilled arbitrator, she handles complex commercial arbitrations as well as standard business and consumer arbitrations privately and under the auspices of the distinguished American Arbitration Association. She additionally serves on its international division, The International Centre for Dispute Resolution (AAA-ICDR). Sheri is also a trained mediator approved by the State Court Administration Office and neutral case evaluator for both district and state circuit court business and complex commercial cases. Sheri is a former member of the firm’s board of directors.
Sheri’s extensive background as a trial attorney and business lawyer has prepared her to handle a variety of matters. Her practice focuses on business disputes, including those involving commercial contracts, leases, technology issues, shareholder, member and partnership disputes, employment issues, fiduciary duties, successor liability, financial services, real estate, sales, trade secrets, business torts, misrepresentation and professional liability.
Frequently honored for legal excellence by her colleagues, peers and clients, Sheri has been awarded an AV ranking from Martindale Hubbell, its top ranking. She has also been selected for recognition as a Michigan “Super Lawyer” by Thompson Reuters upon evaluation by her peers and has previously achieved the designation of National Corporate Counsel Super Lawyer. Sheri has also been named a "Leading Lawyer" by Law Bulletin. She has further been awarded recognition as a “Top Lawyer” by DBusiness Magazine and a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a legal honorary society. She is the only attorney in Michigan to have been listed in “The Select List,” a national list compiled for the insurance industry by Res Loquitor Corporation for the representation of life, health and disability insurers.
Sheri is also actively involved in contributing to the community through her work with non-profit organizations. She serves on the board of directors of The Elaine Stern Foundation.
Representative Matters
- Successfully resolved multiple disputes involving banking associations, real estate commercial ventures, mortgage companies and title companies
- Represented businesses exposed to contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, unfair competition claims, employment issues and discrimination claims
- Successfully defended federal RICO action involving sale and importation of vehicles from Canada to the United States
- Represented limited partnerships in class action lawsuit against publicly traded corporation resulting in favorable settlement for partnerships
- Represented life, health and disability insurers across the nation
- Participated in numerous alternative dispute resolution settings, including facilitation of owner and manager of multiple assisted living facilities in shareholder dispute
- Successfully negotiated settlement and buyout agreement on behalf of public employees trust system invested in real estate operating company
